Outpatient Adult Partial Hospitalization Program

Partial Hospitalization for Adults at Austin Oaks

Austin Oaks Hospital’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for adults provides structured outpatient mental health services for adult patients who do not require 24-hour hospitalization. This intensive day program treats depression, anxiety, mood disorders and other mental and behavioral health issues.

Patients return home at night to interact with friends and family members. This interaction with the community helps patients practice their social skills and coping techniques in real-life situations at home or at work. It also decreases the level of disruption to the lives of adults who have other obligations to their schooling, employment or families.

Our program focuses on further stabilizing adult and senior adult mental health, providing the skillset and tools to work through mental health issues and manage co-occurring symptoms. PHP is often a step-down program after inpatient treatment or long-term residential treatment. It provides intensive oversight during the day as adults, ages 18 and older engage in group therapy and other experiential therapeutic activities.

This intensive day treatment helps patients embrace wellness progression, whether they’re still struggling with the symptoms of depression, bipolar disorder, anger issues and other mental health concerns.

A psychiatrist-led team of diverse masters-level clinicians may assess each client in the Partial Hospitalization Program. The team will work with patients to develop a unique individualized treatment plan to meet their needs. Whether a patient is seeking depression treatment or needs support with anxiety, our team will put together a collaborative plan to improve each patient’s mental health condition. Program components include:

  • Treatment from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Medication management
  • Group therapy and individual case management
  • Nursing service
  • Experiential learning and recreational therapy
